不断有北边华人区的朋友搜索一下地图,然后告诉我中南部伊桃碧谷还是太远了。其实不然,只是离华人聚集区远。但是,离市区近,离密市近,离多伦多Pearson国际机场10分钟 -换句话说,离上班族聚集区特别近;除了东边紧邻多伦多市区中心,中南部伊桃碧谷三侧被高速环绕–北边有401,西边有427,南边靠湖边有QEW高速。 在公共交通上,因为直属多伦多市辖区范围内(不是“大多地区”),TTC交通网络布局紧凑,且有现成的(非“在建”)地铁Bloor线横穿中南部伊桃碧谷,10-15分钟可到Yonge and Bloor, Bay街金融区,以及多伦多大学主校区;而南岸湖边则有不间断的GO-train车次。这一点很重要,需要特意说明,因为北边的GO train 据说是按班次的, 一天只有几次。原因其实很简单,湖边的GO-train line 跟安大略湖岸线和湖边QEW高速以及主干道Lake Shore Boulevard 并行而不交叉,不打断公路交通,所以车次不间断,载客量很大。而从北边华人聚集区的卫星城向南汇聚到多伦多市区Union Station的GO-train line, 跟公路和高速主干道一路交叉,GO-Train通行的时候就必然要打断主路交通,因此车次严重受限。从北边华裔聚集区进入多伦多市区基本就全靠公路交通,一条404 和DVP, 交通之拥堵,可以想见。而从北边进入市区的上班族,如果有赖公共交通的话,最好是不要错过一天的这几班GO-train services,个中辛苦,就不说了。基于此,多伦多市政和各个郊区城市的市政意识到,跨省际的GO-Service,能取得最大的载客量最高的利用率的,非安大略湖边的GO-service莫属。这应该是省府最近大力发展湖边GO-train services的原因所在- 从Hamilton 向西到St. Catharines,从Oshawa 向东到Bomanville, GO-train延长线建设的如火如荼,与之相伴的是由西向东安大略湖边城市房价的一路上扬 - St Catharines, Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga, Pickering, Ajax, Clarington, Oshawa,Bomanville。
